$25Jenny Wiley Gran Fondo cycling rally 2019- A Gran Fondo is a type of long-distance road cycling ride originating in Italy in 1970, and roughly translates into English as “Big Ride”. Italian Gran Fondos are officially defined and certified by the Italian Cycling Federation as a bicycle event at least 75 miles long. The starts are done en masse, and the format allows for riders of every level to participate, much like a marathon, where most participants are competing against the clock instead of other participants. Traditionally a large meal is served to the participants at the end of the event, and roads are shut down. Saturday August 31 choose 33, 70 or 100 miles! If you have never ridden a century this is your chance to enjoy a 100 mile bike ride fully supported, with great food and comradery! Friday night registration and pre ride 16.7 miles, Saturday start time 9 am, Sunday recovery ride, 30 miles. A great weekend of cycling, food and friendship!
Start time will be 9:00 am. The 2019 Jenny Wiley Cycling Rally presented by Pro Fitness Multisports will consist of 1, 2, 3 or 6 laps through Prestonsburg and around Dewey Lake. This 16.7 mile course is nearly flat with only a few gently rolling inclines making it a gentle course. All turns will be right hand direction and marshalled for traffic control. There will be one water stop on the course at the half way point. The race will start and finish at Pro Fitness Multisports where support/food/drinks will be available until the event has finished. The only awards will be certificates issued for the lowest time accumulated on the KOM Segment marked 5.5 along the lake road. Awards will be at Pro Fitness after each category has finished. You are responsible for turning in your accuulated time for 2,3 or 6 laps of the 5.5 Lake Road Segment. Results will then be verified by event organizer. Labor Day Weekend Schedule of Events:
Friday:
?♀️5:30pm: on site registration and T shirt pick up with a 1 lap pre ride of the course;
?♂️7:30pm: Dinner at Lizzie B’s Cafe Bakery
Saturday:
?♀️7am: Early start time for Century Riders that need to finish early
?♂️8am: Registration and T shirt pick up
?♀️9am: General Start time with safety escorts for 1 lap!!!
Will begin with National Anthem & food tables open until the last person finishes!
?♂️6:30pm: Dinner at The Brickhouse
Sunday:
?♀️9am: Morning Ride of The Dawkins Trail-Meet at the Hager Hill Marathon Station; Lunch at Royalton; 36 miles
Monday:
?♂️Labor Day 75 mile ride to Wheelwright Ky, very flat route, with store stops at 25 and 50 miles.
