Not only does matriarch Dorothy have to contend with sudden widowhood\, but she’s also faced with church-committee harpy Ozella Meeks sticking her nose in the family business\, Dewey’s snake-in-the-grass brother making a grab for her house\, and two grown daughters reliving their childhood rivalry. Funerals bring out the worst\, the best\, and the funniest in people\, and the Fryes are no exception. A big-hearted comedy about family — Southern-style.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxing 8.1 or 16.2 mile float on the Levisa Fork River in Prestonsburg & Paintsville. Beginning at 8:00 a.m.\, participants can drop their watercraft off at River Park behind Billy Ray’s Restaurant\, 101 N. Front Ave.\, Prestonsburg\, KY 41653. Paddlefest participants then head to the Combs Airport to register and park your vehicle. This is where all will register and receive wristbands to participate in the paddle and lunch. Tickets\, $15\, include not only a fun paddle with old and new friends\, but also offers a shuttle and catered lunch. Shuttles will be provided to transport you to the starting point at River Park and back from the water tower for those participating in the 16 mile paddle.\nFollowing the river paddle\, a delicious catered lunch will be served at the airport. From there\, participants can enjoy the convenience of grabbing their watercraft and vehicle when finished. Bring your own kayak or rent one\, whatever floats your boat!\nWatercraft rentals are available from Profitness (606-886-8604) or Jenny Wiley State Resort Park (606-889-1790). DESCRIPTION:Billie Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry will keep your feet tapping and hands clapping on Saturday nights during the summer and the Christmas season at the Mountain Arts Center. For over 30 years\, audiences have enjoyed a musical variety show featuring familiar bluegrass\, country\, and gospel songs\, and homespun\, mountain-style comedy from a rotating cast of rising stars\, all of whom hail from the mountains of eastern Kentucky. A retired music teacher\, Billie Jean Osborne was known as a champion of mountain music. When the Opry formed in 1990\, she made good on a promise of support to her former students and up-and-coming musicians of the area.
