1620 Distillery
Bourbon Tasting Room
In 1620, George Thorpe, the 7th Great Grandfather to 1620 distillers, came to America to establish a college and was introduced to the Indians of the region and their corn. In the fall of 1620, George substituted this Indian corn for barley and distilled America’s first corn whiskey. Thus, George became the Grandfather of Corn Whiskey. The 1620 Distillery features a tasty room, live music, and delicious pairing refreshments.

Moonshine Tour
Interpretive Experience
Learn about the history and culture of Appalachia through a fun interpretation involving music, storytelling, dinner and of course, a replica moonshine still. Join us at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park for a one-of-a-kind experience. See how the old timers brewed that famous mountain “white-lightning.” Engage in an informative, yet fun, demonstration by “Uncle Shine” of how moonshine was brewed in the old days and how we have adapted that type of life-style to make moonshine now. Listen to music performed by the local “Moonshine Band” and feast on an Appalachian-style BBQ meal. Tickets include show, tasting, dinner, and musical entertainment. Reserve tickets by calling 606-889-8950.
